Be Brave :: Engage by Saying No!

October 1, 2018

This week: Engage by Saying No > have courage to say no and let someone else say yes.

Watching someone talented juggle is awesome. They make it look effortless. Balls, knives, chainsaws. The hand/eye coordination is spectacular, especially when there are three items in the air. But what happens when you start adding in more items for the juggler to manage? Really talented people can keep going at 4, 5 and even 6 items in the air, but then that’s when you start to see things slip, and things start falling. It’s inevitable. We can only handle so much or do a few things really well. If you start spreading yourself too thin, things start dropping all over the place and you feel a sense of failure.

So, when you think about engaging this week, I encourage you to be brave and say no.

Saying no is powerful! You have an opportunity to realign your priorities to make you feel better and do better with what you’ve said yes to already. Plus, there’s also another powerful component to saying no. When you do say no, you give someone else the chance to say yes. So many times 20% of the people are doing 80% of the work. Did you ever stop to think that it’s because we 20 percenters won’t say no and forge ahead without thinking of the opportunity we could be denying someone else?

Look at what you’re engaging in this week. Re-evaluate what you do have on the go and have the courage to be brave and say no. It will empower someone else to be brave and say yes!
